The following videos were originally recorded in 1992. They consist of reflections by people who grew up or lived for a long time in Ansley Park from its earliest days through the early 1970's. The videos were made as part of an effort to bring the neighborhood together after a divisive battle in the late 1980's over the issue of whether Ansley Park should be zoned as an historic district by the city of Atlanta. A majority of the residents favored the re-zoning effort, but not a sufficiently large majority to make Ansley Park an historic district. Despite this defeat, Ansley Park still maintains its place as an historic place on the National Registry of Historic Places, but such a designation has no zoning implications that would have occurred if the neighborhood were to become an historic district.
