Sixty years after Leon Eplan and Ansley Park pioneered the very concept of a neighborhood plan, we once again step up with a renewed community-focused plan for conserving our beloved neighborhood. The Ansley Park Conservation Study has been approved by the APCA Board of Directors and is now making its way through the city approval process with a targeted City Council adoption in September.
An updated neighborhood plan once again serves as a unifying statement on the smart growth aspirations for conserving the best of Ansley Park in an ever-changing midtown Atlanta. Additionally, the Conservation Study will also require ongoing commitment and resources to execute many of the recommendations. So, while our planning work is complete for now, we will need to keep those sleeves rolled up and keep working together to put planning into action. Find your voice in the plan, and plan how you will contribute to its implementation.
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 1, 2025
Last year, the Ansley Park Civic Association retained TSW Engineering to update the Master Plan for the Ansley Park neighborhood. The study provided both policy and project recommendations developed during the public engagement process.
The Built Environment Committee is now working to begin to implement these recommendations with an initial focus on crosswalks and intersections, sidewalks, streetscapes, and parking. We hope to:
The goals of this follow-on effort are twofold: (1) prioritize the transportation improvements for the neighborhood using cost/benefit analysis, and (2) provide schematic designs for those improvements.
The Built Environment Committee has engaged TSW to create the schematic designs. By December 2025, we hope to have a document we can use to garner city support, solicit contributions, and finally realize these improvements.
Four of our neighbors will oversee subcommittees to work with TSW on each task:
Crosswalks and Intersections: Ryan Davian
Sidewalks: Kim Wilson
Parking: Catherine Lampley
Streetscapes including bike lanes: Mike Messner
Please reach out to Built Environment at environment@ansleypark.org if you would like to participate on one of the subcommittees.

Thank you to the Speedwell Foundation
The APCA thanks the Speedwell Foundation for funding this next step of the process that will allow these projects to become a reality. The Speedwell Foundation was founded by Mike and Jenny Messner in 2000. It works to revitalize, enhance, and connect communities through creating urban parks and funding schools and scholarships. The Speedwell Foundation has initiated a number of urban park initiatives around the country, and Ansley Park is fortunate to be among their philanthropic projects.
