Peachtree Historic District

Update -August 24, 2026

At its August 24 meeting, the Atlanta City Council Zoning Committee placed the proposed historic district on hold. District 6 Councilmember Alex Wan has indicated that he will reintroduce the legislation if supporters can demonstrate a two-thirds supermajority among affected Peachtree Circle properties by September 8. This level of support is not a legislative requirement, but a standard Councilmember Wan has used when considering historic preservation proposals in his district. Councilmember Wan’s office has not yet provided specific details regarding how this supermajority support will be measured or documented.

Prior to this action, the proposal had received recommendations for approval from the APCA Zoning Committee, NPU-E, the Atlanta Zoning Review Board, and City planning staff.
